Paul Bates Bio

It’s not that Paul Bates doesn’t want to tell you what he does as a marketing strategist. It’s just that his ideas are so innate and second nature to him that he has a hard time putting into words how he helps his clients within the interactive marketing world. He’s a numbers guy, and those numbers drive his campaigns. His whole goal can be summed up in one phrase: minimize risks and maximize profits. That’s what Paul Bates provides for his clients on a regular basis, and his success is derived from the comprehensive and analytical way in which he builds solutions.
A well-known proverb states, “He who fails to plan plans to fail.” Paul is a planner. He starts each engagement with an in-depth analysis of the company’s existing operations, including business and marketing plans. He runs the numbers and identifies the true cost per unit, whether that “unit” is a product or service. From there, he works his magic, incorporating mostly interactive approaches to build and maintain momentum.
Some of Paul’s many talents include website design, photography, lead generation, pay-per-click, and SEO/SEM. He’ll try just about anything once, but because he’s always looking on the back end to determine the ROI, if it’s not working, he’s quick to drop it or move in a different direction. By allowing data to drive his choices, Paul has consistently delivered results that exceed expectations. He may not be able to put words to everything that he can provide, but he certainly can put numbers to it—and those numbers reflect his success.
When working with start-ups and smaller companies, Paul may choose to just jump in and start trying things. With a more established firm, he will analyze everything the company is doing now to see what is and is not working before devising his plan of attack. No matter what, though, his ultimate objective is to create more business. Much like an effective science project, Paul’s approaches start with a hypothesis and are followed by ongoing testing until the point is proven. When not focused on numbers and analysis, Paul enjoys being in or near the water. At the beach, you can find him boating, wake boarding, sailing, or sitting in the sand with a glass of red wine. He is currently completing his Management Information Systems baccalaureate at University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management; the program is ranked #3 in the country. He has previously worked in management in both the hospitality and financial industries.
